Twentieth Century Fox has assembled a creative team to transform popular 1980s TV series “The A-Team” into a summer 2010 film.<\/p>\n
The studio has set Narc<\/strong> and Smokin\u2019 Aces<\/strong> helmer Joe Carnahan to direct with Ridley Scott and Tony Scott exec producing through their Scott Free production team.<\/p>\n The show’s original creator, Stephen J. Cannell, will also be producing.<\/p>\n The film will start production by June 2009 for a June 11, 2010 theatrical release.<\/p>\n Boyz n the Hood<\/strong> and Poetic Justice<\/strong> director John Singleton had most recently been attached to the film before dropping out. Skip Woods, who had written the first script, has come in for round two, this time with assistance from Brian Bloom.<\/p>\n Carnahan and the Scott brothers say they will use the original premise of the series as the template for the film, which involved four Vietnam vets convicted of armed robbery who escape from prison and become crime fighters.<\/p>\n The Middle East will replace Vietnam as the place the four did their tour of duty, but Carnahan said the origin story is still the same.<\/p>\n “I am determined to make that movie there or elsewhere, but it’s an interesting time in Hollywood, and you have to be aware when you get the opportunity to step into a business model that is working,” Carnahan said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Twentieth Century Fox has assembled a creative team to transform popular 1980s TV series “The A-Team” into a summer 2010 film.
