“Youngblood” is a fictional superhero team that starred in their self-titled comic book, created by Rob Liefeld. The team made its debut as a backup feature in the 1987 one-shot “Megaton: Explosion” before later appearing in its own ongoing series in 1992 as the flagship publication for Image Comics, which Liefeld started with several other stars of the industry at the time, including “Spawn” creator Todd McFarlane. <\/p>\n
Through out their publishing history, they were originally published by Image Comics, later by Awesome Entertainment, before returning back to Image in 2007. Liefeld has stated that the idea for the project stemmed from a theory that if superheroes did exist, they would be akin to rock stars and actors. Throughout the series there are numerous references to endorsement deals, TV show appearances, managers, agents, and pressures of celebrity life. The team, managed by the US government, include former FBI agent Shaft, an archer using a hi-tech bow and arrows, Badrock, a teenager transformed into a stone powerhouse, Chapel, a government assassin, and the superhuman Vogue, a former Russian supermodel. <\/p>\n
No dates have been announced so far for production or a predicted release date, though Ratner has commented on the speed with which the project was greenlit and his passion for doing it. <\/p>\n
