Abrams To Direct Next Star Wars Film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it&#8217;s official! You&#8217;ve probably heard by now that J.J. Abrams has been tapped to direct the next &#8220;Star Wars&#8221; film, &#8220;Star Wars: Episode VII.&#8221; Personally, I think it&#8217;s great that &#8220;Star Wars&#8221; is going to be under the helm of someone whom I think is one of the most qualified directors to take us back to a distant galaxy far, far away. <\/p>\n<p>According to Walt Disney, Abrams will work with film producer Kathleen Kennedy to direct the film; Michael Arndt will pen the screenplay. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very exciting to have J.J. aboard leading the charge as we set off to make a new Star Wars movie,\u201d said Kennedy. \u201cJ.J. is the perfect director to helm this. Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the Star Wars experience, and will bring that talent to create an unforgettable motion picture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lucas also chimed in, saying, \u201cI\u2019ve consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller.  He\u2019s an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn\u2019t be in better hands.\u201d   <\/p>\n<p>Abrams, a known &#8220;Star Wars&#8221; fan, is thrilled to be working on his most cherished franchise. &#8220;To be a part of the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, to collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an absolute honor,\u201d he said. \u201cI may be even more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Abrams, his producing partner Bryan Burk and Abrams&#8217; label Bad Robot will produce alongside Kennedy under the Disney | Lucasfilm banner. Also consulting are Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg. Kasdan&#8217;s input will be especially valuable, since he has worked with Lucasfilm as the screenwriter for &#8220;The Empire Strikes Back,&#8221; &#8220;Raiders of the Lost Ark&#8221; and &#8220;Return of the Jedi.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Again, I think Abrams being on board is fantastic. He took &#8220;Star Trek,&#8221; a then-dying franchise, and made it into a must-see, action-packed blockbuster. He made &#8220;Star Trek&#8221; sexy again. For him to do this with a franchise he didn&#8217;t even like at first is amazing; just think what he can do with a franchise he loves.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think?
