The founder of the Sundance Institute didn&#8217;t initially publicly comment on the rumors of his casting. But the Academy Award-winning filmmaker confirmed his role as a senior S.H.I.E.L.D. agent yesterday during a New York roundtable Shockya participated in for his new thriller, &#8216;The Company You Keep.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Redford stated that his character is more than just another agent in the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. He also explained why he took on a role in &#8216;Captain America: The Winter Soldier,&#8217; which is set to hit theaters on April 4, 2014, and will feature returning stars Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson. The actor also explained that the action sci-fi sequel, which is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is so different from his previous work.<\/p>\n<p>Of his casting in &#8216;Captain America: The Winter Soldier,&#8217; Redford said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;(I&#8217;ll be playing) the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. in &#8216;Captain America.&#8217; It&#8217;s very simple; I wanted to do something different, and that felt like a good thing to do. That&#8217;s it, there&#8217;s nothing more to it than that.
