As the weekend\u2019s only new wide release, all eyes are on the Tom Cruise-starrer, \u201cOblivion.\u201d With summer movie buzz already in the air, the film could benefit from tentpole hype, possibly earning just less than \u201cG.I. Joe: Retaliation,\u201d kicking off its run with a $35 million start.<\/p>\n

Should \u201c42\u201d take a weekend two dip slightly higher than \u201cMoneyball,\u201d it\u2019ll retain 55% of its opening weekend profits for another $15 million. As for \u201cScary Movie 5,\u201d it\u2019s poised to fall and fall fast. Should it drop like \u201cVampires Suck\u201d and \u201cMeet the Spartans,\u201d it\u2019ll wave goodbye to 60% of its opening profits for a mere $6 million second weekend out.<\/p>\n

With \u201cScary Movie 5\u201d taking such a significant hit, \u201cThe Croods\u201d should have no trouble keeping the #3 spot. If it sees another 36% change, it\u2019ll get to take in an impressive $8 million for weekend five. As for \u201cG.I. Joe: Retaliation,\u201d while its percent loss should be leveling out, with \u201cOblivion\u201d posing a threat, it\u2019ll likely see another 48% dip, which would give it just $5.5 million for weekend five, a number only good enough for the 5th position.<\/p>\n

Sadly \u201cEvil Dead\u201d is on the typical horror movie landslide and while its decline should level out a bit in weekend three, it\u2019ll still forgo about half of its weekend two profits, adding only $4.5 million more to its domestic total. \u201cJurassic Park 3D\u201d dipped far more harshly than expected from weekend one to two and while things should improve in weekend three, it won\u2019t improve enough for the film to make much more than $4.5 million and that means there\u2019s a good chance \u201cOlympus Has Fallen\u201d could hold on strong enough to surpass it. Should that one drop 35%, it\u2019ll take just over $4.5 million and the 7th spot.<\/p>\n

As \u201cTyler Perry\u2019s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor\u201d plummets, \u201cOz The Great and Powerful\u201d should have no trouble securing the 9th position. However, if it drops 40% and \u201cThe Place Beyond the Pines\u201d only loses 30%, \u201cOz\u201d will barely keep on top with $3 million compared to \u201cPlace Beyond the Pines\u2019\u201d $2.5 million. <\/p>\n
