MGM and Paramount Pictures confirmed the news that &#8216;X-Men: The Last Stand&#8217; helmer Brett Ratner, who&#8217;s directing and producing &#8216;Hercules,&#8217; started filming the anticipated action adventure.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Hercules,&#8217; which also stars Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes and John Hurt, will be distributed worldwide on July 25, 2014 by Paramount. The film&#8217;s television distribution will be handled by MGM.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the graphic novel of the same name, the screenplay for &#8216;Hercules&#8217; was written by Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos. The ensemble film is a revisionist take on the classic myth, and is set in a grounded world where the supernatural doesn&#8217;t exist.<\/p>\n<p>MGM and Paramount have released the following synopsis for &#8216;Hercules&#8217;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary.  Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies.
