We\u2019ve got a number of big projects making some big moves.<\/p>\n

A Licensing Expo banner revealed that \u201cJurassic Park 4\u201d is back on track and now heading towards a 2015 release. It\u2019s also smoother sailing for Marvel in regards to \u201cThe Avengers 2\u201d and \u2018The Avengers 3\u201d now that the studio officially has Robert Downey Jr. back on board. \u201cTerminator 5\u201d seems to be making strides as well with a rumor surfacing purporting that Dwayne Johnson is due to join the cast. <\/p>\n

Ready for the latest on all of those stories, the status of \u201cIndependence Day 2,\u201d a casting update for \u201cTomorrowland,\u201d and loads more? It\u2019s all a quick scroll-down away in your weekly Movie News Cheat Sheet<\/B>. <\/p>\n

1. No Will Smith for \u201cIndependence Day 2:\u201d<\/FONT><\/B> \u201cIndependence Day 2\u201d is coming and, odds are, it\u2019ll be big, but not big enough to support Will Smith\u2019s price tag. Director Roland Emmerich told the NY Daily News<\/a>, \u201cWill Smith can not come back because he’s too expensive, but he\u2019d also be too much of a marquee name.\u201d So when the aliens attack again when the long awaited sequel hits theaters on July 3, 2015, Captain Steven Hiller will be off living happily ever after with Jasmine and Dylan, or whatever you do after you fly a UFO into space and demolish an alien mother ship, but that won\u2019t be the case for some other original characters. Emmerich also revealed, \u201cWe have like maybe half of the people that you know would know from the first film (in the script) and the other half people who are new.\u201d James Vanderbilt is currently polishing that script, which Emmerich notes is not a total reboot and rather \u201csomething that\u2019s totally unusual.\u201d<\/p>\n

2. Anna Kendrick May Play Cinderella in \u201cInto the Woods:\u201d<\/FONT><\/B> Not only is Anna Kendrick due to star in the musical-to-film adaptation of \u201cThe Last 5 Years,\u201d but possibly the highly anticipated \u201cInto the Woods,\u201d too. As reported by THR<\/a>, Kendrick is currently in talks to join Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Tracy Ullman and Christine Baranski as the film\u2019s Cinderella. Blunt and Corden lead as a husband and wife trying to lift a witch\u2019s spell. During their adventure in the woods, they run into Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, and, of course, Cinderella, too. Should Kendrick\u2019s deal go through, her character will be \u201ctrying to find her place in the world\u201d while suffering through her marriage to a vain prince played by Pine.<\/p>\n

3. \u201cJurassic Park 4\u201d is Back on Track:<\/FONT><\/B> Things got a little rocky, but it looks like Colin Trevorrow and co. may have pulled \u201cJurassic 4\u201d back together. ComingSoon.net<\/a> caught a banner for the franchise\u2019s fourth installment at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas that shows off the film\u2019s new 2015 release date and reported that the event\u2019s programming book states the film will be shot in 3D, too. Shortly after JoBlo.com<\/a> jumped in with never-before-revealed story details. Apparently \u201cJP4\u201d will involve John Hammond\u2019s original vision, but fully realized. Jurassic Park is up and running, totally safe, and gets 10 million visitors a year. The outlet has loads more information, but continue on at your own risk. The details do creep into spoiler territory.<\/p>\n

4. Dwayne Johnson in \u201cTerminator 5?:\u201d<\/FONT><\/B> He\u2019s already part of \u201cFast & Furious,\u201d \u201cJourney to the Center of the Earth,\u201d and \u201cG.I. Joe,\u201d but why not add another potentially massive franchise to the list? According to WWE Examiner<\/a>, Dwayne Johnson might be skipping out on WrestleMania 30 in April because he\u2019ll be busy shooting \u201cTerminator 5.\u201d The outlet reports that the script is only in the development stage, but the tale will involve a \u201csinister machine,\u201d and the filmmakers want Johnson to play that machine. Apparently there are still a number of storyline possibilities in the mix, but one option would make \u201cT5\u201d a prequel featuring Sarah Connor\u2019s parents. Arnold Schwarzenegger is locked to return, but there\u2019s also a chance he won\u2019t play a machine in the next installment, rather a \u201cheroic human figure.\u201d As WWE Examiner points out, none of these details have been confirmed, but should the film really go into production next April, they could be soon.<\/p>\n

5. Britt Robertson vs. Naomi Scott for \u201cTomorrowland\u201d Lead:<\/FONT><\/B> Britt Robertson or Naomi Scott could get a major career boost real soon. According to THR<\/a>, director Brad Bird has narrowed it down to the two for his \u201cTomorrowland\u201d lead. George Clooney is locked for a role in the film, but the story\u2019s main character is Casey Newton, \u201ca rebellious teenage girl who comes to Clooney\u2019s character, a disgruntled inventor, for help on a quest.\u201d The next stage of the selection process will involve full hair and makeup tests in early July, but if Bird doesn\u2019t find what he\u2019s looking for in Robertson or Scott after that, he\u2019ll move on to other options.<\/p>\n

6. Robert Downey Jr. Officially Locked for \u201cAvengers 2\u201d & \u201c3:\u201d<\/FONT><\/B> It\u2019s official. Robert Downey Jr. will play Iron Man in both \u201cThe Avengers 2\u201d and \u201cThe Avengers 3.\u201d There was talk about recasting the role of Tony Stark in fear of \u201cchallenging\u201d negotiations with Downey Jr., but now Marvel<\/a> confirms that he\u2019s locked for the pair of films, the first of which is scheduled to go into production in March of 2014 and hit theaters on May 1, 2015. <\/p>\n

7. Sam Taylor-Johnson will Direct \u201cFifty Shades of Grey:\u201d<\/FONT><\/B> \u201cNowhere Boy\u201d director Sam Taylor-Johnson is set to helm the big screen adaptation of E.L. James\u2019 \u201cFifty Shades of Gray.\u201d Universal Pictures and Focus Feature made the big announcement with producer Michael De Luca noting, \u201cSam’s unique ability to gracefully showcase complex relationships dealing with love, emotion and sexual chemistry make her the ideal director to bring Christian and Anastasia’s relationship to life.\u201d The story focuses on a 27-year-old billionaire named Christian Grey and his relationship with college student Anastasia Steele. The rumor mill has already been churning for the casting of both roles, but now that the film has a director and is inching closer to production, be prepared for Christian\/Anastasia speculation to pick back up again, full force.<\/p>\n

8. William Fichtner is \u201cTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u2019\u201d Shredder:<\/FONT><\/B> When word of William Fichtner\u2019s casting in Jonathan Liebesman\u2019s \u201cTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u201d hit the web back in May, there was tons of talk about his mystery role being that of the franchise\u2019s big bad villain, Shredder. Fichtner himself just proved those rumors true, flat-out telling HuffPost TV Canada<\/a>, \u201cI play Shredder.\u201d \u201cTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u201d is currently in production with Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, and Noel Fisher bringing the turtles back to life motion capture style and is due in theaters on June 6, 2014.<\/p>\n

9. Trailers: \u201cFree Birds,\u201d \u201cThe LEGO Movie,\u201d \u201cFrozen:\u201d<\/FONT><\/B> We\u2019ve got a trio of animated movies for you this week. First up is the promo for \u201cFree Birds<\/a>\u201d featuring the voices of Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson as a pair of turkeys traveling back in time to take their kind off the Thanksgiving menu once and for all. The scenario seems amusing enough, but \u201cFree Birds\u201d doesn\u2019t come anywhere close to trumping the nostalgia of \u201cThe LEGO Movie<\/a>.\u201d Some of the jokes in the film\u2019s first trailer do fall a little flat, but the animation is impeccable and there\u2019s something about that LEGO piece clicking sound that make the appeal of going on an adventure in that realm undeniably appealing. \u201cFrozen<\/a>\u201d also takes a step beyond \u201cFree Birds\u201d thanks to an overwhelming dose of heart. The new teaser trailer doesn\u2019t delve into the feature\u2019s narrative, but rather offers a little taste of the world through a tremendously adorable short form standoff between a snowman and moose.<\/p>\n

10. Box Office:<\/FONT><\/B> As expected, \u201cMonsters University\u201d made a killing at the box office, but surprisingly, \u201cWorld War Z\u201d wasn\u2019t far behind. \u201cMonsters University\u201d locked a total of $82 million on a $20,480 per theater average for its first weekend out while \u201cWorld War Z\u201d scored a very solid $66 million with about $18,298 at each location. Tack on the $45.8 million \u201cWorld War Z\u201d made overseas and that $190 million production budget no longer seems that far out of reach. With both newcomers opening strong, it\u2019s no surprise that \u201cMan of Steel\u201d suffered a hefty hit with the film\u2019s 64.7% loss leaving it with about $41.2 million for its second weekend out. The #4 spot went to \u201cThis is the End,\u201d which held on well moving into its second weekend. Thanks to a minimal 37.3% drop, it took another $13 million to the bank. But even more impressive, \u201cNow You See Me\u201d dropped just 28.6% while making its move from weekend three to four, letting it take another $7.9 million to the bank.
