{"id":12801,"date":"2009-03-24T00:00:55","date_gmt":"2009-03-24T07:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shockya.com\/news\/?p=12801"},"modified":"2009-03-23T17:59:53","modified_gmt":"2009-03-24T00:59:53","slug":"the-coen-brothers-to-remake-true-grit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shockya.com\/news\/2009\/03\/24\/the-coen-brothers-to-remake-true-grit\/","title":{"rendered":"The Coen Brothers to Remake True Grit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Variety<\/em> reports that the Coen brothers are set to remake <strong>True Grit<\/strong>, the classic Western film that won John Wayne an Oscar.<\/p>\n<p>Based on a Charles Portis novel, <strong>True Grit<\/strong> is about a 14-year-old girl who, along with an aging U.S. Marshal and another lawman, tracks her father&#8217;s killer in hostile Indian territory.<\/p>\n<p>While the original film was a showcase for Wayne and co-starred Kim Darby, Glen Campbell, Jeff Corey, Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper, the Coens&#8217; version will stick to Portis&#8217; novel closer and tell the tale from the girl&#8217;s point-of-view.<\/p>\n<p>Producer Scott Rudin, their partner on the Oscar-winning <strong>No Country for Old Men<\/strong>, will once again produce alongside the Coens. <\/p>\n<p>The trio is also working on an adaptation of &#8220;The Yiddish Policemen&#8217;s Union&#8221;, a novel written by Michael Chabon. <\/p>\n<p>The Coens just recently finished <strong>A Serious Man<\/strong> for Focus Features and Working Title.<\/p>\n<p>By Tessa Petrocco (Source: Variety)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Variety reports that the Coen brothers are set to remake True Grit, the classic Western film that won John Wayne an Oscar.
