There\u2019s a good chance things will slow down as we creep closer to Thanksgiving, but for now, the movie news keeps on flowing.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s talk of Norman Reedus joining the remake of \u201cThe Crow\u201d and a rumor floating around that David S. Goyer might adapt \u201cThe Sandman,\u201d possibly with Joseph Gordon-Levitt taking the lead role. We\u2019ve also got reports that Sony may have Spider-Man spin-offs in the works and a list of potential titles Warner Bros. may be considering for the Batman\/Superman film. <\/p>\n

1. Norman Reedus May Join \u201cThe Crow:\u201d<\/B><\/FONT> Now that the remake of Alex Proyas\u2019 \u201cThe Crow\u201d has its Eric Draven (Luke Evans), it\u2019s on to the supporting roles. As reported by Schmoes Know<\/a>, Norman Reedus is currently the top choice for the role of James. There\u2019s no one named James in the 1994 release and Schmoes Know doesn\u2019t offer any details, so it\u2019s a toss up whether the part would place Reedus on team Draven or with the band of thugs responsible for his demise. The outlet also notes that the filmmakers were after Kristen Stewart for the role of Eric\u2019s fianc\u00e9e, Shelley, but that that idea has since been abandoned.<\/p>\n

2. Are Spider-Man Spin-Offs in the Works?:<\/B><\/FONT> As reported by The Wrap<\/a>, Spider-Man spin-offs may be on the way. During a presentation to investors, Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal announced, \u201cWe are going to access Marvel\u2019s full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains.\u201d Unless Pascal elaborated and The Wrap didn\u2019t include the full quote, that statement in and of itself doesn\u2019t scream spin-off, but accessing the full world of Spider-Man characters could mean anything, so it\u2019s certainly within the realm of possibility \u2013 especially if \u201cThe Amazing Spider-Man 2\u201d comes anywhere near the first film\u2019s $262 million worldwide theatrical run.<\/p>\n

3. Possible Titles for Batman vs. Superman Movie:<\/B><\/FONT> Tired of referring to the Batman\/Superman movie as Batman vs. Superman? You\u2019re in luck because it looks like Warner Bros. may be honing in on an official title. As reported by Fusible<\/a>, the studio just registered the following names via MarkMonitor \u2013 \u201cMan of Steel Battle the Knight\u201d, \u201cMan of Steel Beyond Darkness\u201d, \u201cMan of Steel Black of Knight\u201d, \u201cMan of Steel Darkness Falls\u201d, \u201cMan of Steel Knight Falls\u201d, \u201cMan of Steel Shadow of the Night\u201d, \u201cMan of Steel The Blackest Hour\u201d and \u201cMan of Steel The Darkness Within.\u201d The outlet notes that Warner Bros. also registered shorter versions of these titles including \u201cBattle the Knight\u201d and \u201cThe Blackest Hour.\u201d<\/p>\n

4. \u201cBest Man Holiday\u201d Gets a Sequel:<\/B><\/FONT> When you open with $30 million on a $17 million production budget, you\u2019re going to get a sequel and, sure enough, according to Deadline<\/a>, Universal is moving forward with a \u201cBest Man Holiday\u201d follow-up. The outlet reports that Malcolm D. Lee is currently in negotiations to write, direct and produce again. No word on whether or not the ensemble cast will return too, but Deadline does note that there might not be options in play so it\u2019s possible that demands for bigger paychecks could become an issue.<\/p>\n

5. \u201cThe Purge 2\u201d in June 2014 & \u201cInsidious 3\u201d in April 2015:<\/B><\/FONT> Two 2013 horror hits just scored release dates for their next installments. The first out of the gate will be \u201cThe Purge 2,\u201d which is locked for a June 20, 2014 debut, pitting it against \u201cJersey Boys\u201d and \u201cThink Like a Man Too.\u201d James DeMonaco will return to direct the sequel to his summer hit, which cost just $3 million to make, but scored nearly $90 million worldwide. Even though \u201cInsidious Chapter 2\u201d managed to snag $40 million opening weekend back in September, Focus Features is opting to release the third film in April, just like the 2011 original. Thus far, on April 3, 2015 \u201cInsidious Chapter 3\u201d will have to face the Keanu Reeves\/Rachel McAdams-starrer, \u201cPassengers.\u201d (via Universal Pictures & Focus Features)<\/p>\n

6. \u201cIt\u2019s a Wonderful Life\u201d Sequel in the Works:<\/B><\/FONT> Variety<\/a> recently revealed that Star Partners and Hummingbird Prods. are moving forward with a sequel to Frank Capra\u2019s \u201cIt\u2019s a Wonderful Life.\u201d They\u2019re calling the project, \u201cIt\u2019s a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story,\u201d and plan to bring back Karolyn Grimes to play an angel who shows George Bailey\u2019s (James Stewart) grandson what life would be liked if he were never born. If you\u2019re thinking \u2013 Really? \u2013 you\u2019re not alone. A rep from Paramount Pictures, told EW.com<\/a>, \u201cNo project relating to \u2018It\u2019s a Wonderful Life\u2019 can proceed without a license from Paramount,\u201d and, \u201cTo date, these individuals have not obtained any of the necessary rights, and we would take all appropriate steps to protect those rights.\u201d According to that Variety article, Allen J. Schwalb of Star Partners and Bob Farnsworth of Hummingbird plan to shoot the film in Louisiana on a $25-$35 million production budget and have the final product ready for the 2015 holiday season \u2013 but clearly that\u2019s pending Paramount\u2019s blessing.<\/p>\n

7. David S. Goyer & Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Team Up for \u201cSandman?:\u201d<\/B><\/FONT> According to Badass Digest<\/a>, \u201cBatman vs. Superman\u201d scribe David S. Goyer is currently pitching an adaptation of Neil Gaiman\u2019s graphic novel, \u201cThe Sandman,\u201d to Warner Bros. Apparently Joseph Gordon-Levitt is also on board and while there\u2019s no word on whether or not he\u2019ll be in front of or behind the camera, if not both, there\u2019s speculation that he could star as the lead character, Morpheus, the member of the Endless responsible for creating dreams for those who are sleeping. The outlet cautions that the project is only in the \u201cmost vestigial of stages\u201d and even though \u201cthe studio has been very receptive,\u201d there\u2019s still a chance the project will not advance.<\/p>\n

8. Trailers: \u201cNymphomaniac,\u201d \u201cVampire Academy,\u201d \u201cMuppets Most Wanted:\u201d<\/B><\/FONT> The first trailer for \u201cNymphomaniac<\/a>\u201d is unprecedented \u2013 in that shocking yet intriguing Lars Von Trier kind of way. The film features Charlotte Gainsbourg as Joe, a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac who recounts eight chapters worth of stories from her life, and based on this trailer, the large majority of those stories are deserving of the their NC-17 rating. The first full trailer for the book-to-film adaptation of \u201cVampire Academy<\/a>\u201d is a strong step forward for the marketing campaign, but the piece still can\u2019t compare to the material unveiled at New York Comic Con back in October. This promo has sass, but it doesn\u2019t have half the amount of momentum of that NYCC edition and it\u2019s unfortunate because that\u2019s the kind of energy that\u2019s going to appease fans of the books and reel in newcomers. The first full trailer for \u201cMuppets Most Wanted<\/a>\u201d dropped this week too and even though a handful of jokes are plain old unfunny, in the context of the Muppet world, they work well enough to both boost your mood and put a smile on your face. What more could you want from a Muppet movie?<\/p>\n

9. Even More Trailers: \u201cDevil\u2019s Knot,\u201d \u201cBest Night Ever,\u201d \u201cNeed for Speed:\u201d<\/B><\/FONT> The first trailer for Atom Egoyan\u2019s West Memphis Three movie, \u201cDevil\u2019s Knot<\/a>,\u201d is here and while it does pack a punch courtesy of its true roots, the promo itself doesn\u2019t have all that much momentum, making certain scenes and lines of dialogue feel a bit melodramatic. On the total opposite end of the spectrum, we\u2019ve got an absolutely outrageous trailer for the bachelorette party shaky cam movie, \u201cBest Night Ever<\/a>.\u201d The little narrative the piece has is very familiar, but the jokes within it are so hilarious and extreme, you\u2019ll want more of this Las Vegas blowout. Last up for this week\u2019s extended edition of the trailer segment(s) is the first full trailer for \u201cNeed for Speed<\/a>.\u201d Like the teaser, the visuals here are stunning and the darker tone works, but beyond that, there\u2019s nothing to suggest it\u2019ll offer anything the \u201cFast and Furious\u201d franchise hasn\u2019t already.<\/p>\n

10. Box Office:<\/B><\/FONT> Not only did \u201cThe Hunger Games: Catching Fire\u201d blow away the competition at the box office, but it also trumped the first film\u2019s $152.5 million start with a whopping $161.1 million of its own, making it the highest opening November release ever. \u201cCatching Fire\u201d got the better of \u201cThor: The Dark World,\u201d likely contributing to its 61.4% drop, which left it with just $14.1 million for its third weekend out. Good thing Universal already announced that \u201cBest Man Holiday\u201d sequel, because last weekend\u2019s big winner took a hefty 58.4% hit, leaving it with just $12.5 million for its second weekend in theaters. Poor Vince Vaughn is in even worse shape. After \u201cThe Internship\u201d opened with a minimal $17 million back in June, \u201cDelivery Man\u201d only managed to accumulate $8.2 million on a weak $2,706 per theater average. \u201cFree Birds\u201d is the only film that managed to escape \u201cCatching Fire\u2019s\u201d flames, retaining about 65% of its weekend three profits and adding another $5.3 million to its domestic grand total, which is now just north of $48 million.
