Collider.com recently talked with Robert Downey Jr. about his upcoming projects, including “Iron Man 2”, the sequel to the 2008 smash adaptation of the Marvel Comics character, the armored hi-tech armored hero and playboy inventor Tony Stark. <\/p>\n

On rumors that comedic actor Gary Shandling being in the film, he says that “I’m doing a Senate hearing where the government is saying the Iron Man tech needs to be turned over to the Senator and the Senator is Gary Shandling. And we had this fantastic day that was somehow this controlled chaos of a Senate hearing where I keep interrupting them and dah dah dah.”<\/p>\n

He also describes the Iron Man armor being improved and more “ergonomic” from the first film, and says of working with Mickey Rourke, who portrays the mercenary Whiplash, that he is “[l]iterally remarkable. He\u2019s so good. And he\u2019s formidable and he\u2019s very much reminding me of that kind of charming, confident guy that we know.”<\/p>\n

“Iron Man II” is due to hit theaters May 7th, 2010 and stars Downey, Rourke, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Sam Rockwell. It’s being directed by Jon Favreau. <\/p>\n
