KiKA von ARD und ZDF is now available for free on FilmOn. KiKA<\/a> (the official title being Der KinderKAnal von ARD und ZDF) is a German children’s channel based in Erfurt, Germany. As you can infer from the title, it’s a channel created by the national public television channels ARD and ARD’s broadcasters–HR, BR, NDR, MDR, Radio Bremen, RBB, SWR, WDR, Saarl\u00e4ndischer Rundfunk and ZDF. <\/p>\n

KiKA is not only free to the public, but it’s also commercial free. The station is geared towards children aged 3 to 13. This sounds like a regular children’s channel, until you get to the awesome mascot, Bernd das Brot. He’s a depressed, fatalistic, bad-tempered sandwich bread loaf. He himself states that he belongs to the species “Homo Brotus Depressivus.” Apparently, Bernd has become a Germanic cult figure with both children and adults alike.
