We\u2019re in between summer blockbusters this weekend, but \u201cNeighbors<\/strong>\u201d still could take advantage of the lack of competition. \u201cLegends of Oz: Dorothy\u2019s Return\u201d hasn\u2019t made much of an impression on the marketing front and \u201cMoms\u2019 Night Out\u201d is only hitting 1,000 theaters, so \u201cNeighbors\u201d should be in the clear and snag a good chunk of the weekend profits. It won\u2019t manage to post \u201cThe Heat\u201d-sized earnings, but it could come in just behind with about $37 million to start.<\/p>\n

Back in 2012, \u201cThe Amazing Spider-Man\u201d only dipped 44.2% making the move from weekend one to two, but considering the sequel made nearly $30 million more, that percent change is bound to come up. If it levels off at 60%, \u201cThe Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/strong>\u201d will settle in just behind \u201cNeighbors\u201d with another $36 million.<\/p>\n

With \u201cLegends of Oz\u201d and \u201cMom\u2019s Night Out\u201d being non-issues, much of last weekend\u2019s top ten should stay intact. \u201cThe Other Woman<\/strong>\u201d will take #3, likely with $8.5 million after taking another 40% hit while \u201cHeaven is for Real<\/strong>\u201d stays right behind with a weekend four total of $5 million. Even though \u201cLegends of Oz\u201d will give \u201cRio 2<\/strong>\u201d some direct competition, \u201cThe Amazing Spider-Man 2\u201d will make the bigger mark and that could cause \u201cRio 2\u201d and \u201cCaptain America: The Winter Soldier<\/strong>\u201d to swap spots. If \u201cRio\u201d dips just 43% and \u201cCaptain America\u201d loses another 50%, the former will take #5 with about $4.4 million and the latter will come in at #6 with $3.9 million of its own.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s where \u201cLegends of Oz<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cMoms\u2019 Night Out<\/strong>\u201d might be able to slip in. If \u201cMoms\u2019 Night Out\u201d manages to come in just behind \u201cSingle Moms Club\u201d with a $3,500 per theater average, it\u2019ll take $3.5 million in total, putting it in the #7 spot and if \u201cLegends of Oz\u201d pulls a \u201cBattle for Terra\u201d with a $1,000 per theater opening, it\u2019ll take #8 with $2.5 million to start.<\/p>\n

Neither \u201cBrick Mansions<\/strong>\u201d nor \u201cDivergent<\/strong>\u201d are scheduled to lose any theaters, so both should manage to secure a moderate percent change. \u201cBrick Mansions\u201d took a big hit last weekend, but if it brings that 61.2% loss down to about 50%, it\u2019ll take $1.8 million to lock in #9. And as for \u201cDivergent,\u201d it should have no trouble repeating last weekend\u2019s 40% drop, which would let it enjoy one last weekend in the top ten with $1.3 million for its eighth weekend out.<\/p>\n
