The summer season is rife with monsters and Transformers, but there’s also some space for comedy and “Blended” is aiming to become a new comedy favorite. The film has the right element for success in the reteaming of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, so we’ll see what happens when the film hits theaters May 23. <\/p>\n

“Blended” is directed by Frank Coraci with a screenplay by Ivan Menchell and Clare Sera. Along with Barrymore and Sandler, the film stars Joel McHale, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Kevin Nealon, Jessica Lowe, Terry Crews, Shaquille O\u2019Neal, Bella Thorne, Emma Fuhrmann, Alyvia Alyn Lynd, Kyle Red Silverstein and Braxton Beckham. <\/p>\n

“‘Blended’ marks the third comedy collaboration between stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, following their successful onscreen pairings in the hit romantic comedies \u201c50 First Dates\u201d and \u201cThe Wedding Singer.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren (Barrymore) and Jim (Sandler) agree on only one thing: they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for a week.<\/p>\n

‘Blended’ also stars Joel McHale (NBC\u2019s ‘Community’) as Lauren\u2019s ex-husband, Mark, and Wendi McLendon-Covey (‘Bridesmaids’) as her best friend, Jen; Kevin Nealon (‘Weeds’) and Jessica Lowe (funnyordie\u2019s ‘RobotDown’) as an overly romantic couple also vacationing at the resort; Terry Crews (‘The Expendables 2’) as the resort\u2019s singing host; and Dan Patrick (ESPN SportsCenter) as Dick.<\/p>\n

Playing the kids are: Bella Thorne of Disney Channel\u2019s ‘Shake it Up,’ Emma Fuhrmann and Alyvia Alyn Lynd as Jim\u2019s daughters; and Kyle Red Silverstein and Braxton Beckham as Lauren\u2019s sons.<\/p>\n

‘Blended’ is directed by Frank Coraci, who previously collaborated with Sandler and Barrymore on ‘The Wedding Singer’ and also directed Sandler in the hit comedies ‘The Waterboy’ and ‘Click.’ The screenplay is by Ivan Menchell & Clare Sera.
