Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are some of the most important unalienable rights the American government proclaims to offer to all its citizens, and has sought to protect since the country’s inception. However, moral and legal persecution for alternative lifestyles is still a thriving source of conflict in modern society. Hip hop\/pop musician Julian Rhine is a strong and memorable proponent of pushing American politicians and society to finally practice what it preaches in its Declaration of Independence, and end persecution for alternative religious and romantic beliefs. The New York City-based artist strongly pursues his fight for religious and lifestyle freedoms in his new single, ‘No God Flow,’ the title track from his new album, which is now available, and features the talented singer Jae-Mi.<\/p>\n

‘No God Flow’ pays strong homage to the musicians who have strongly fought for civil rights before him, including Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Lady Gaga, and proves he’s passionate about bringing social justice to America. By infusing the song to showcase that everyone deserves equal rights and religious freedom, he’s strongly supporting the idea that the true separation of Church and state becomes truly mandate and effectively followed.<\/p>\n

While it’s admirable that the singer, who also plays the instruments on the track, supports everyone’s equal rights and their freedom to choose their own lifestyle, Rhine’s outspoken and unapologetic words comes across as overbearing and domineering at times. Rhine admirably set out to support the same message of granting full freedom to gay couples in America that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis powerfully sang about in ‘Same Love.’ Unfortunately, his over critical nature of other people’s beliefs makes his agenda sound imperious, and takes away from his credibility. The singer sounds just as intolerant in his criticism of those who favor religion over personal freedoms, such as choosing who you want to marry, throughout ‘The God Flow.’<\/p>\n

While the song at times becomes overly critical of religious beliefs and influences throughout America, Jae-Mi infuses an insightful and soulful feeling to the chorus, as she sang about taking what’s right in life. Her powerful contrast to Rhine’s rap makes listeners question how religious morals can still so heavily dictate a society that thrives on the idea of the separation of church and state.<\/p>\n

‘No God Flow’ is an intriguing song that emphasizes how religious morals still rule society’s ideas, despite the nation’s promise that everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of their own ideas of happiness. Rhine and Jae-Mi enthralling dissect the fact that violent crimes, wrongful persecution and the dissolution of people’s dreams by the government negatively affects everyone’s lives.<\/p>\n
