Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been working on the “Sandman” film adaptation for a while. Fans of his are certain he can do a great job, but the big question is probably when the film is actually going to be made. Gordon-Levitt talks about the progress of the film with Moviefone<\/a> during an interview for “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For,” and the short of it is that bringing a faithful “Sandman” adaptation to film is harder than one might think, especially those not initiated into the world of “Sandman.”<\/p>\n

“It’s a lot of the same people who worked on the Nolan ‘Batman’ movies. It’s really exciting. There’s not a script yet, we’re still kind of working it out because it’s such a complicated adaptation because ‘Sandman’ wasn’t written as novels,” he said. “‘Sin City’ was written as a novel. ‘Sandman’ is 75 episodic issues. There’s a reason people have been trying and failing to adapt ‘Sandman’ for the past 20 years.” He goes on to say that they are in the middle of working out the kinks. “…I don’t want to make any claims, but I think we’ve got the right ideas.”<\/p>\n

So there’s your answer, fans. The adaptation is coming, but it’s coming slowly. As a “Sandman” fan myself, I’d rather production on it be slow and deliberate instead of quick and bad.
