Tom Hanks is once again proving he’s one of America’s most respected heroes, as he bravely faces an intense investigation in his upcoming drama, ‘Sully.’ The biographical film, which is set to be released in theaters nationwide on September 9 by Warner Bros. Pictures, has unveiled its new official IMAX trailer. The new clip focuses on the Golden Globe-winning actor’s powerful personification of the title pilot, who had to defend his decision to heroically land his disabled plane onto New York City’s Hudson River.<\/p>\n
‘Sully’s new trailer highlights how Director of Photography, Tom Stern, used IMAX cameras for nearly the entire shoot. The new drama marks the latest collaboration between the cinematographer and director Clint Eastwood, who previously worked together on such films as ‘American Sniper,’ ‘Jersey Boys,’ ‘J. Edgar, ‘Invictus,’ ‘Gran Torino,’ ‘Changeling,’ ‘Letters from Iwo Jima,’ ‘Flags of Our Fathers’ and ‘Million Dollar Baby.’<\/p>\n

On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.<\/p>\n
‘Sully’ also stars Aaron Eckhart (‘Olympus Has Fallen,’ ‘The Dark Knight’) as Sully’s co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, and Oscar nominee Laura Linney (‘The Savages,’ ‘Kinsey,’ Showtime’s ‘The Big C’) as Sully’s wife, Lorraine Sullenberger.<\/p>\n
Eastwood is directing the film from a screenplay by Todd Komarnicki, based on the book Highest Duty by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow.
