challenging realism in many inner-city neighbors, but filmmaker Dominique Purdy is determined to shine some humor on the situation. The lead actor of the upcoming comedy, &#8216;Driving While Black,&#8217; who also co-wrote the script with director Paul Sapiano, is exploring, with love, the black experience in everyday interactions with police in Los Angeles. The movie explores Purdy&#8217;s real life experiences growing up as a person of color in L.A., and his run ins with police.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Driving While Black&#8217; is set to be released in theaters in the U.S on February 1, 2018 from Artist Rights Distribution, Inc. The theatrical release comes after the critically acclaimed comedy won 32 film festival awards.<\/p>\n<p>Artist Rights Distribution, Inc. has released the following synopsis for &#8216;Driving While Black&#8217;:<\/p>\n<p>Dmitri (Purdy) is a pizza guy who would rather smoke weed and suffer for his art, but his mom and his girl won&#8217;t stop nagging him to get a real job. When he&#8217;s offered a gig mouthing off to tourists behind the wheel of a Hollywood &#8220;star tour&#8221; bus, it looks like everyone might get what they want. The trouble is, Dmitri can&#8217;t seem to step out of the door to get to the interview without endless complications, including busted radiators, simple weed scores gone sideways and LAPD cruisers seemingly everywhere.
