With <\/span><b>Andrew Reed\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> latest release <\/span><b><i>If All The World Were Right<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the singer\/songwriter channels the power of positive thinking, while also delivering some good old fashioned slices of Americana. But alas, despite its inspirational ambitions, which are admirable, the new concept album just feels so samey samey from song-to-song.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kicking off the record with the sounds of a lonely beach, <\/span><b>Andrew Reed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> kicks off with a soothing and pleasant called \u201c<\/span><b>Sailed Away<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d that feels light and friendly enough, but there\u2019s not much to get out of it. It\u2019s like listening to a self-help audiobook set to folk music and jamband sounds. There\u2019s a sense of empowerment and joy that spread throughout the song, but as soon as we get to the next track that feeling comes right back with \u201c<\/span><b>Cure My Mind<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d And then again with \u201c<\/span><b>Life in the City<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d then again with \u201c<\/span><b>Putting Things in Order<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d And so on and so on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While it might seem great that <\/span><b>Reed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is keeping to the theme of his concept album, it really never explores those messages of positivity and just declines into banality. There\u2019s just something so in-offensive about <\/span><b><i>If All The World Were Right<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that it just doesn\u2019t create a lasting impression with this listener. Even the title track boils down to a spiritual cattle call that really never really says anything about anything. It\u2019s something that\u2019s just there and quickly leaves your mind as soon as the song is over.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SVgTQRPHM1Y?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s not a problem with songwriting or construction, it\u2019s actually pretty strong in that sense with driving guitar work from <\/span><b>Reed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and walking basslines from <\/span><b>Trevor Walker<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Rob Geisler<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but it just seems too hippy-dippy for my taste. While, again, it is admirable for a concept album to center on notions of positive thinking that\u2019s truly inspirational, especially in these modern times, it just seems like a small dent in the bigger damn of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But maybe I\u2019m looking at this all wrong. There might be something to the power of positivity, as <\/span><b>Andrew Reed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> continues down the path of life and everything around it. After all, he did opt to release <\/span><b><i>If All The World Were Right<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on January 1, 2018, a day usually reserved for change for the better. However, New Year\u2019s resolutions usually don\u2019t stick throughout the month of January, so it seems that the overall message of positive-thinking is lost on those who gave up on their resolutions so soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, <\/span><b><i>If All The World Were Right<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is perfectly suitable for anyone who likes their music to be completely inoffensive and safe. But I just prefer music that\u2019s a little bit deeper than that. However, the penultimate track \u201c<\/span><b>Sailed Away (Reprise)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d ends with a beautiful and pleasurable addition of smooth trumpet sounds from <\/span><b>Alex Bradley<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It\u2019s pretty delightful. But the last track undercuts it with a pretty hokie poem that serves as the album\u2019s mission statement. It just seems like a well-worn message after listening to song after song about virtually the same thing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Songs \u2013 C-<br \/>\nTechnical \u2013 C<br \/>\nOverall \u2013 C-<\/p>\n<p><b><i>If All The World Were Right<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by<\/span><b> Andrew Reed <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is out now on Spotify and Apple Music.
