We\u2019re in the throes of award season \u2013 let\u2019s watch the beautiful, talented people collect their bounty.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/golden-globes\/2019\/01\/07\/golden-globe-awards-2019-review\/\">Golden Globes kicked off award season<\/a> right after New Year\u2019s, setting the tone for an exciting couple of weeks by looking past some frontrunners and rewarding those who practiced their most \u201cI\u2019m glad I was nominated smile.\u201d We\u2019re looking at you Rami Malek (\u201cBohemian Rhapsody\u201d) and Glenn Close (\u201cThe Wife\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Check <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbookreview.com\/best-sportsbooks\/heritage-sports\/\">Heritage Sports<\/a>, one of SBR\u2019s best-rated sports betting sites, for opportunities to pick the winners of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a rundown of the remaining award shows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What it is: This fast-paced show has actors honoring actors for the best work in movies and on television.<\/p>\n<p>When and where to watch: 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, on TNT and TBS<\/p>\n<p>The host: Megan Mullally, expect a nice balance of snark and wit from the actress who plays Karen on NBC\u2019s &#8220;Will &#038; Grace&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The nominees: Not only to the SAG awards honor individual achievement in acting, it also honors the collaborative art of ensemble acting. Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture are &#8220;A Star is Born,&#8221; &#8220;Black Panther,&#8221; &#8220;Blackkklansman,&#8221; &#8220;Bohemian Rhapsody&#8221; and &#8220;Crazy Rich Asians.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On TV, best ensemble drama nominees are &#8220;The Americans,&#8221; &#8220;Better Call Saul,&#8221; &#8220;The Handmaid&#8217;s Tale,&#8221; &#8220;Ozark,&#8221; and &#8220;This is Us.&#8221; In comedy, the ensemble nominees are &#8220;Atlanta,&#8221; &#8220;Barry,&#8221; &#8220;Glow,&#8221; &#8220;The Kominsky Method&#8221; and &#8220;The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>GRAMMY AWARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What it is: The music industry\u2019s biggest honor.<\/p>\n<p>When and where to watch: Sunday, Feb. 10, on CBS<\/p>\n<p>The host: This is a case of we know who won\u2019t be hosting \u2013 James Corden. Between his late-night duties and filming the live-action \u201cCats\u201d of Broadway fame, Corden is unavailable. The fall back for this show seems to be LL Cool J, plus he\u2019s in the CBS family as a star of \u201cNCIS: Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The nominees: There are 84 categories, so we would need a novella to list all the nominees. Competing for Record of the Year, which honors the musician and producers and engineers, are &#8220;I Like It&#8221; by Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin; &#8220;The Joke&#8221; by Brandi Carlile; &#8220;This is America&#8221; by Childish Gambino; &#8220;God&#39;s Plan&#8221; by Drake; &#8220;Shallow&#8221; by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper; &#8220;All the Stars&#8221; by Kendrick Lamar and SZA; &#8220;Rockstar&#8221; by Post Malone featuring 21 Savage; and &#8220;The Middle&#8221; by Zedd, Maren Morris &#038; Grey.<\/p>\n<p>Our pick: \u201cThis is America\u201d by Childish Gambino<\/p>\n<p><strong>INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What it is: This is the awards show for the cool kids, held in a tent adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier. You can almost feel the sand between your toes when you watch this show which honors up-and-coming filmmakers and \u2013 usually \u2013 small films, though there is an occasional blockbuster. <\/p>\n<p>When and where to watch: 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, on IFC The host: Grumpy Cat, er, Aubrey Plaza! The actress who won our heart at the voice of our favorite not happy feline will throw some fun shade at her fellow filmmakers.<\/p>\n<p>The nominees: Some you\u2019ll know, others not so much \u2013 but they are all good. Nominated for Best Feature are &#8220;Eighth Grade,&#8221; &#8220;First Reformed,&#8221; &#8220;If Beale Street Could Talk,&#8221; &#8220;Leave No Trace&#8221; and &#8220;You Were Never Really Here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Our picks: Tough choice. We\u2019re going with \u201cIf Beale Street Could Talk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>ACADEMY AWARDS (OSCARS)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What it is: The big enchilada of award shows where they have been celebrating themselves for 91 years.<\/p>\n<p>When it is: <a href=\"https:\/\/abc.go.com\/shows\/oscars\">Sunday, Feb. 24, on ABC<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>The host: There has been as much drama over who is hosting than has been on screen this year. It won\u2019t be Kevin Hart \u2026 it will be: no one.<br \/>\nHopefully this host-less Oscars goes better than the last one. That was in 1989 with the debacle of Rob Lowe singing with Snow White.<\/p>\n<p>The nominees: We still don\u2019t know as the nominees will be announced on Jan. 22. We can tell you that many hope \u201cBlack Panther,\u201d the<br \/>\ngroundbreaking Marvel superhero movie is among the Best Picture nominees.
