Variety.com is reporting John Malkovich is joining the cast of “Secretariat,” the Randall Wallace-directed drama for Disney and Mayhem Pictures about the famous racehorse. Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray of Mayhem are producing.<\/p>\n
Malkovich will play the former jockey turned trainer Lucien Laurin, who became the trainer of the 1973 Triple Crown-winning racehorse <\/p>\n
The film will be focusing on, alongside the story of the horse’s rise to fame, the relationship between the horse and his owner Penny Chenery (Diane Lane), a housewife who takes over her ailing father’s horse farm though she knows next to nothing about horses.<\/p>\n
