Variety.com is reporting that Kat Dennings (“Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist”) has joined the cast of Marvel Studio’s “Thor,” thethe big-screen adaptation of the Marvel Comics character that is set to begin filming this January.<\/p>\n

Dennings will play Darcy, a coworker of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman).<\/p>\n

The character of Thor, created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Larry Lieber, debuted in 1962 in “Journey Into Mystery”. The Norse god of thunder, he was exiled to Earth to learn humility and had the human identity of Dr. Donald Blake, who could transform into the heroic god by striking his walking stick into the ground.<\/p>\n

The film has a scheduled release date of May 20th, 2011. Kenneth Branagh is directing.<\/p>\n
