Entire nations were broken, faiths vilified, cultures criminalized. The enslavers grew rich; the enslaved were left with ashes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transatlantic routes of enslavement began at <strong>Elmina Castle in Ghana, Ouidah in Benin, Gor\u00e9e Island in Senegal, Bunce Island in Sierra Leone<\/strong>. From there, chains of human cargo were shipped across the Atlantic to the Caribbean \u2014 to <strong>Barbados, Jamaica, St. Kitts, Antigua &amp; Barbuda.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Antigua\u2019s role was brutal and central. By the late 18th century, it held <strong>37,000 enslaved Africans and only 3,000 whites<\/strong>. Its ports at <strong>St. John\u2019s and English Harbour<\/strong> became infamous as staging grounds for Britain\u2019s slave empire. Here, enslaved Africans were not only <strong>seasoned<\/strong> into plantation labor but <strong>bred like livestock<\/strong> \u2014 women raped and forced to produce children to feed the sugar economy, long after the transatlantic trade was officially outlawed. Antigua was not just a colony. Their demand is clear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>$1.5 trillion in climate reparations.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cultural reparations<\/strong> for the criminalization of cannabis and suppression of Rastafari and Nubian Orthodox traditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Defamation reparations<\/strong> for decades of smear campaigns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reparations for slavery itself<\/strong> \u2014 the unpaid labor, the torture, the breeding, the theft of life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Covenant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Backed by <strong>Nubian Orthodox Christianity, Rastafari livity, Adventist faith, and the Nation of Islam<\/strong>, the Alliance has forged a covenant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>We shall not forget.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>We shall not bow.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>We shall not be divided.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>We shall be repaired.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The same islands that once served as slave-breeding grounds are now becoming <strong>reparations headquarters.<\/strong> Antigua, once shackled, now leads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And as the <strong>Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, the High Court of London, and the Maryland Federal Court<\/strong> prepare to hear the claims, the world is reminded: reparations are not a plea.
