NEW YORK, September 12, 2007: FearWerx, the horror brand of micromedia company SphereWerx, LLC, announced today that it has released the second installment of WAR OF THE DEAD: Z.E.R.O, the first episodic zombie series.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153War of the Dead: Z.E.R.O\u00e2\u20ac\u009d takes place in an \u00e2\u20ac\u0153alternate present\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, during the tenuous containment of a global zombie epidemic. Members of the Zombie Emergency Response Operations team (Z.E.R.O), professional anti-zombie commandos, are called to exterminate the living dead in isolated outbreaks.<\/p>\n

The pilot premiered earlier this year on an experimental horror channel and was that webnet\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most-viewed program ever. Episode 2 can be seen at the series\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 new home, www.warofthedead.com<\/a>, where the pilot and all subsequent episodes will launch.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We finally get to see how messy the job is,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said creator\/executive producer Joe Sena of SphereWerx. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The pilot introduced our four main characters, but this one\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s got more action, humor and an abundance of the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcred stuff\u00e2\u20ac\u2122.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Focusing on the character of Tara (Dina Cataldi), this episode finds the group responding to an outbreak in an abandoned apartment building. Discovering an infected female squatter (guest star Devon Marie), the group awaits a medical unit while fighting off hordes of undead. Meantime, the dying woman reveals a terrible secret, forcing Tara to make a decision resulting in an effects sequence that will make even the most die-hard gorehounds squirm.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What horror fans and non-horror fans alike have recognized is that the merit in the show is not just the fx and gore — anyone can do that,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said writer\/director Mike DiSario. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The show is about the depth of the characters and the situations they find themselves in. Everything is more effective when the audience is engulfed in the story.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

The series is produced by Melissa Rubin, written and directed by Michael DiSario and also stars Don Money as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Justin\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the team Captain, Andrew Roth as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Gellow\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the team\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s weapons expert, Sean David as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Jones\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the tactics expert, and Lynn Mastio-Rice as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Dr. Orchid\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, the group\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s adminstratively mandated psychiatrist.<\/p>\n

Five more episodes are in progress and the entire first season is slated for release on DVD in 2008.
