Screenwriter Kerry Williamson has been tapped to write the film adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s medical mystery book series starring medical examiner Kay Scarpetta. <\/p>\n
Fox 2000 picked up the rights to the books this past April, and have Angelina Jolie lined up to star.<\/p>\n
Mark Gordon is producing the project alongside Jolie’s manager Geyer Kosinski.<\/p>\n
The 17-book series, whose latest entry “The Scarpetta Factor” was released by Putnam this past October, is being eyed as a potential franchise for Jolie. Williamson’s screenplay will supposedly not be a direct adaptation of any of the books, but rather will be an original story starring the character and set in the world Cornwell has created in the novels.<\/p>\n
