Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, AnnaSophia Robb, Carrie Underwood, Lorraine Nicholson and Kevin Sorbo will all be starring in the indie drama “Soul Surfer,” about surfer Bethany Hamilton, who survived a brutal shark attack while surfing at 13.<\/p>\n
Sean McNamara is directing the project, which is based on Hamilton’s autobiography. Robb will star as Hamilton, with Quaid and Hunt playing her parents. The script was done by McNamara, Deborah Schwartz, Douglas Schwartz and Michael Berk, and filming is set to begin this week in Hawaii. <\/p>\n
Hamilton was surfing in 2003 in Hawaii with some friends when a tiger shark attacked her as she lay on her board with her left arm in the water. The shark bit the arm off right below her left shoulder. She returned to surfing three weeks after the attack and now surfs competitively. <\/p>\n
