Angela Bassett has joined the cast of the big-screen adaptation of DC’s “Green Lantern” as Dr. Amanda Waller.<\/p>\n

Amanda Waller is a DC character known for being a government agent who leads the supervillains-on-parole group known as Suicide Squad, as well as being a member of the superhuman spy agency called Checkmate. She was created by John Ostrander, Len Wein, and John Byrne in the late 1980s.<\/p>\n

Bassett joins Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan\/Green Lantern, Blake Lively as Carol Fenris, Mark Strong as Sinestro, Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, and Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur.<\/p>\n

Directed by Martin Campbell, “Green Lantern” is slated for release June 17th, 2011.<\/p>\n
