Could a gangster movie starring Javier Bardem, Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke get any more badass? I don’t think so. According to Deadline<\/a>, the trio has nearly sealed the deal to star in Tony Scott’s next project, Potsdamer Platz<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Scott’s had Buddy Giovinazzo’s script in his hands for quite sometime. His Scott Free banner acquired it back in 2000 and since, the piece was rewritten by the ex-screenwriting duo David Scinto and Louis Mellis. It’s about the true story of two New Jersey mobsters who try to do business abroad.<\/p>\n

Scott still has a number of issues to take care of before his passion project begins shooting in the fall. First off, he has to seal the deal with his leads. All three actors are merely circling the project and have yet to put pen-to-paper. Also eyeing the film from afar are three primary financiers, Relativity, Lionsgate and 20th Century Fox. Fox gets priority thanks to its connection to Scott Free.<\/p>\n

Deadline mentions the film’s title will undergo some editing. Potsdamer Platz references the locale in Germany, but the venue is reportedly being relocated to Puerto Rico. Lastly, Scott wants his Crimson Tide star, Gene Hackman, to join the cast as well. Unfortunately, the chances of that happening are slim.<\/p>\n
