Not all films have to be fast paced and action packed, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to make one deliberately slow without a purpose. I caught Cairo Time<\/em> during the Tribeca Film Festival and found it to be a major snoozer. It stars Patricia Clarkson as a woman who travels to Egypt to spend some time with her husband who works as a UN employee in the area. The problem is, her hubby gets caught up in Gaza and she’s forced to entertain herself. When that doesn’t work out well she reaches out to one of her husband’s former co-workers (Alexander Siddig) and that’s where the tagline kicks in and they go on “an adventure of the heart.”<\/p>\n

\n

The poster is actually quite appropriate because what you see is what you get. Clarkson and Siddig taking a tour of the region and doing a bit of subtle canoodling on the way. The romantic tension is there, but it takes a backseat to Clarkson\u2019s trip to Egypt for most of the film making it more of a tour of the town than a love story. I\u2019m going to take a pass on seeing this one again, but if Cairo Time<\/em> sounds like your thing, you can check it out in theaters on August 6th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
