We’re due for a new golf movie, right? The last one I can remember seeing in the theater was that one with Shia Labeouf, The Greatest Game Ever Played <\/em>back in 2005. Well, it looks like the next one is right around the corner because according to Variety<\/a>, both Robert Duvall and Lucas Black have signed on to star in Seven Days in Utopia<\/em>, which begins production in Texas on Thursday with Matthew Dean Russell behind the lens.<\/p>\n

They’ll join Ann Woll, Brian Geraghty and Melissa Leo in the golf drama based on David L. Cook’s book Golf’s Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia<\/em>. Cook co-wrote the script with Rob Levine, which focuses on a young golfer with hopes of one day joining the pro tour. Unfortunately, he finally gets that chance, but blows it big time in front of a huge crowd. He opts to leave his troubles and the game behind and winds up stranded in Utopia, Texas. That\u2019s where he meets a strange rancher who actually has some life-changing advice to dispense.<\/p>\n

\n

The article doesn\u2019t say who\u2019s who, but I\u2019m going to take a guess and say Black will be our up and coming golfer and Duvall will play the rancher. Regardless, Utopia<\/em> will be their third project together. Duvall and Black were both in the 1996 film Sling Blade<\/em> as well as Get Low<\/em>, which just hit theaters this weekend. While I didn\u2019t love Get Low<\/em>, there\u2019s no denying that it\u2019s a well made film and that the acting in it is absolutely fantastic. So between Duvall and Black as well as Woll, Geraghty and Leo, odds are, Seven Days in Utopia<\/em> will be something to look forward to.<\/p>\n
