Now, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/new\/Alien-Prequel-Now-An-Original-Story-Called-Prometheus-Starring-Noomi-Rapace-22631.html\" target=\"blank\">CinemaBlend<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deadline.com\/2011\/01\/ridley-scott-directing-prometheus-for-fox-noomi-rapace-locked-while-angelina-jolie-and-charlize-theron-circling-2nd-female-lead\/\" target=\"blank\">Deadline<\/a>, Scott has redirected his prequel idea into an original film being titled\u00a0<em>Prometheus. <\/em>The film also has <em>The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo<\/em> star Noomi Rapace set to star. There&#8217;s also a release date in place; the film is expected to hit theaters March 9, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>According to what Scott told Deadline, there will be similarities of <em>Alien<\/em> in <em>Prometheus,<\/em> but the themes tackled will be, &#8220;unique, large, and provocative.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Writer Damon Lindelof also told Deadline why he was drawn to the project.\u00a0&#8220;In a world flooded with prequels, sequels and reboots, I was incredibly struck by just how original Ridley&#8217;s vision was for this movie. It&#8217;s daring, visceral and hopefully, the last thing anyone expects.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rapace will play a scientist named Elizabeth Shaw. Another character, &#8220;Vickers&#8221;, has not been cast yet, but Deadline has speculated that Angelina Jolie or Charlize Theron might play the part.
