NBC has picked up the new ‘Wonder Woman’ television series being developed by David E. Kelley, Slashfilm.com is reporting. The news comes after all of the major networks, including NBC, recently passed on the series, which will feature the superhero’s famous lasso, cuffs and plane. But NBC ultimately decided to take a chance on the series after it was announced that Robert Greenblatt was appointed as the network’s new prime-time chairman.<\/p>\n

Even though the networks didn’t have concerns over the series’ story lines, they all expressed concern over potential licensing fees. The networks didn’t want to have to pay DC Comics the required extensive price to reboot the series. But Greenblatt, who helped bring ‘Dexter’ and ‘Weeds’ to Showtime, decided Kelley’s take on the superhero was worth the cost.<\/p>\n

Kelley is also currently executive producing the new mid-season replacement series ‘Harry’s Law’ for NBC. However, the network won’t renew the series, starring Kathy Bates, until May when this season’s final ratings numbers are determined.<\/p>\n
