Now that director Brad Anderson has announced that he plans on adapting Thomas Pynchon’s novel “Inherent Vice” into a movie, he has also confirmed that he’s close to signing Robert Downey, Jr. to star in the film, www.collider.com<\/a> is reporting. The actor is seriously considering the role, as he recently finished filming ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,’ and he left the production of ‘Oz the Great and Powerful.’<\/p>\n

“Inherent Vice” follows Doc Sportello, who seemingly runs into his ex-girlfriend randomly. However, the meeting isn’t random, as she has a motive; she wants him to help her kidnap the billionaire land developer she now loves. But Doc is suspicious of her supposed love for the developer, as it the sixties, and people just throw any word they want around without worrying about the consequence. Doc ends up going along with the plan despite his suspicions, and along the way, meets hustlers, drug addicts, a murderous loan shark and an ex-con.<\/p>\n

There’s no word yet when ‘Inherent Vice’ will begin filming. It may take place later this year, however, as Downey, Jr. is set to start filming ‘Iron Man 3’ in early 2012.<\/p>\n
