Kevin Costner has been officially cast as Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder&#8217;s &#8220;Superman: Man of Steel&#8221;, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/insidemovies.ew.com\/2011\/03\/17\/kevin-costner-cast-in-superman\/\" target=\"blank\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a>. So now we have our full Kent family!<\/p>\n<p>Costner was chosen because of the strength he can lend to the character, according to what Snyder said in a statement. &#8220;Jonathan Kent is the only father figure Clark has ever had, the man who was there to help Clark understand what he was meant to do in the world of Superman&#8230;Kevin will be able to communicate the quiet strength of this rural American man who raised the greatest super hero of all time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;ll recall, Diane Lane was officially announced as Martha Kent, and Henry Cavill has been tapped to play the titular character himself. <\/p>\n<p>The film is meant to be an inventive reboot of the admittedly stale &#8220;Superman&#8221; franchise. In an attempt to refresh the franchise ala &#8220;Batman&#8221;, Christopher Nolan is producing and David S. Goyer is writing the screenplay. Deborah Snyder, Charles Roven and Emma Thomas are also producing. &#8220;Superman: Man of Steel&#8221; is expected to be in theaters December 2012. <\/p>\n<p>How is the casting shaping up for you?
