So, what’d you think of our first installment of the new weekly feature Movie News Cheat Sheet<\/B>? Hopefully you found it entertaining and informative because we’re back for more! In the latest addition we bring you even more SXSW updates, a handful of new trailers, the best of the best over at the box office and much more. Keep on reading to get the perfect dose of the latest to let you confidently dive headfirst into a week packed with movie news banter.<\/p>\n

1. SXSW:<\/B><\/font> Just before the festival winds down we’ve got a few more films for you to consider. First up is Kristen Wiig’s writing debut, Bridesmaids<\/I>, which earned generally positive reviews. IGN<\/a> says the film has “more laughs-per-minute than the majority of comedies,” but a “lack of depth and somewhat bloated run-time holds it back from being a comedy classic.” Despite Mel Gibson\u2019s unpopularity, The Beaver<\/I> went over quite well with Film School Rejects<\/a> saying that actor “nails it.” Then there’s the Conan O’Brien documentary of which Cinematical<\/a> says, “Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop<\/I>, and neither will you be able to stop laughing during nor thinking about this winning documentary.”<\/p>\n

2. Sucker Punch<\/I> Mash-Up:<\/B><\/font> Who doesn\u2019t love a good trailer mash-up? There\u2019s actually a whole website devoted to them, the trailermash.com<\/a>, and they\u2019re all pretty damn impressive. However, the mash-up to note this week comes from YouTube user forensicator8<\/a> and it makes for a wildly amusing juxtaposition. The creator opted to ditch Zack Snyder\u2019s battling babes and insert the Disney princesses for a beautifully twisted trailer set to the tune of Silversun Pickups\u2019 \u201cPanic Switch\u201d and some dialogue from the film. Check out the Sucker Punch<\/I>-Disney princess mash-up for yourself right here.<\/p>\n

3. Daredevil<\/I> Reboot:<\/B><\/font> As a huge David Slade fan, I\u2019m thrilled about any project he\u2019s behind, but a Daredevil<\/I> reboot? First off, Daredevil is certainly lesser known than the heavyweights we\u2019re used to seeing on the big screen and secondly, Mark Steven Johnson already tarnished the guy\u2019s imagine with his 2003 go at adapting the comic. At this point, the only thing that\u2019s keeping me the least bit interested is Slade. Fox has yet to hire a writer, but once the studio does pull someone on board, the plan isn\u2019t to go the reboot route, rather to continue the Daredevil<\/I> story. Good for Slade on nabbing a new gig, but when you think he could have been the guy directing the adaptation of The Hunger Games<\/I>, you can\u2019t help but to be a little disappointed. 4. Red Dawn<\/I> Villain Change:<\/B><\/font> Yes, this is a very serious matter, but how can you not get a giggle out of the fact that after shooting an entire feature film, MGM is going back to change the nationally of the villain? Apparently, China is such a financial asset to US entertainment companies that the studio doesn\u2019t want to put it in a negative light in their upcoming remake of Red Dawn<\/I>. The original 1984 film had the kids fighting the U.S.S.R., but since they\u2019re no more, MGM thought it\u2019d be a good idea to go with a timelier enemy, China. Well, now distributors are running scared fearing that hooking up with the new Red Dawn<\/I> could put a bad taste in the superpower\u2019s mouth. The plan is to digitally remove Chinese flags and replace them with the flags of the country that poses no financial threat, North Korea. (via LATimes.com<\/a>) <\/p>\n

5. Hunger Games<\/I> Update:<\/B><\/font> What\u2019s another week without more Hunger Games<\/I> news? At least this time around we have some concrete developments to report. After months of speculation, it\u2019s finally confirmed; Jennifer Lawrence is Katniss Everdeen. Is this good or bad? You be the judge, but it does have a major affect on the casting approach from here on out. By going with an actress four years older than the character in the book, Lionsgate has locked itself into a cast packed with very late teens or actors in their early twenties as compared to if they\u2019d gone with someone like 14-year-old Chloe Moretz who would have called for a far younger Peeta and Gale. 6. Wolverine<\/I> Loses Darren Aronofsky:<\/B><\/font> An Academy Award winning director taking on The Wolverine<\/I>? It was a dream come true. However, now it looks as though that dream was too good to be true because Aronofsky has opted out of directing the X-Men Origins: Wolverine<\/I> sequel. According to Deadline<\/a>, the exit has something to do with Aronofsky\u2019s split with Rachel Weisz and the ensuing custody battle. The plan is to shoot the majority of the film in Japan and Aronofsky simply can\u2019t be abroad for that long. Aronofsky himself said, \u201cI was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time.\u201d Regardless, Twentieth Century Fox and Hugh Jackman are still totally committed to the project.<\/p>\n

7. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Juno Temple in Dark Night Rises<\/I>:<\/B><\/font> In case you need even more superhero movie news, there\u2019s been some casting updates for the third installment of Christopher Nolan\u2019s Batman series. Apparently Joseph Gordon-Levitt is confirmed to join up, but there\u2019s no word on who he\u2019ll be playing. As per Internet speculation Alberto Falcone, also known as The Holiday Killer, is the top possibility. In addition, Nolan has his eye on Juno Temple to assume the part of \u201ca street-smart Gotham girl.\u201d The Gordon-Levitt rumor has been floating around for quite some time, so his casting doesn\u2019t come as much of a surprise, however, Temple\u2019s involvement certainly does \u2013 and a nice one at that. Even with credits like Atonement<\/I>, Year One<\/I> and Greenberg<\/I> under her belt, she\u2019s still relatively unknown. Want a taste of what she\u2019s capable of? Check out Jordan Scott\u2019s new release Cracks<\/I>. (via Variety<\/a>)<\/p>\n

8. Adrianne Palicki is Wonder Woman:<\/B><\/font> Nope, no movie news here, but for any Wonder Woman fans or any guys who like their ladies to play dress up, this image is worth your while. Turns out the very first image of Palicki donning the Wonder Woman suit isn\u2019t attracting fan boy praise rather a fashion police assault – literally. E! Online\u2019s Fashion Police<\/a> begins their article with \u201cNo, you didn’t just accidently click on some Halloween costume site hawking cheesy knockoffs of famous get-ups.\u201d Film School Rejects points out a few positives, but then goes for the jugular saying \u201cIt\u2019s cheap. And I mean really cheap.\u201d There\u2019s also a pole over at Buzz Sugar<\/a> where the results currently stand at 23% \u201cLove It\u201d to a whopping 77% for \u201cLeave It.\u201d<\/p>\n

9. Trailers:<\/B><\/font> No matter how funny your trailer is, when you\u2019re up against a featurette for the final film of a beloved eight-film series, you don\u2019t stand a chance. Not only does Bridesmaids<\/I> boast some positive buzz out of Sundance, but a promising new trailer<\/a>, too, showing off the film\u2019s power-packed ensemble cast led by writer Kristen Wiig. Then there\u2019s the comedy Friends With Benefits<\/a><\/I> starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. Yes, we\u2019ve already seen the shtick in No Strings Attached<\/I>, but Friends With Benefits<\/I> looks to do it with more original bits, clever characters and an even bigger cast. Now for the ultimate. We\u2019re just two months away from the July 15th premiere of the final Harry Potter<\/I> film and the very first featurette<\/a> has arrived. It offers cast interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and sadly, the sense that the finale is really drawing near.<\/p>\n

10. Box Office:<\/B><\/font> It was an all around mediocre weekend at the box office, but Limitless<\/I> did perform a little better than expected. The Bradley Cooper starrer managed to out earn both The Lincoln Lawyer<\/I> and Paul<\/I> in addition to last weekend\u2019s top two earners, Battle: Los Angeles<\/I> and Rango<\/I> with a $19 million intake. Both The Lincoln Lawyer<\/I> and Paul<\/I> still managed to earn $13 million each, but when you compare their $40 million budgets to Limitless<\/I>\u2019 $27 million one, it\u2019s quite clear who the big winner is. As for the veterans, Rango<\/I> proves to have more staying power than Battle: LA<\/I> only dropping 32% from week two to three as compared to Battle: LA<\/I>\u2019s hefty 59% loss from week one to two.
