Even the show had critical acclaim and, as The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> writes, “heavy internal support”, FX has decided to cancel the show “Lights Out” after only one season. <\/p>\n

The show’s highest point as far as audience turnout was 1.5 million viewers during the pilot. Afterwards, however, the ratings just kept sliding downhill. <\/p>\n

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the news is far from shocking, seeing how open John Langraf, president FX was to talking about his disappointment. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in early March, Langraf said that the ratings problem with both this show and the recently cancelled
\n“Terriers” caused him great pain. <\/p>\n

Langraf blames the ratings problem for “Lights Out”, and by extension, “Terriers”, on the seemingly sameness of the shows at the outset. He stated that while the shows feel similar, viewers found that when they actually watched the shows, they weren’t the same old hat. Even though the shows were dealing with similar dramas, there were enough “subtle” tweaks and innovations that couldn’t be marketed well. <\/p>\n

“Lights Out” was a drama set around a boxer who struggles to find his identity and sense of self once he retires from the boxing world. <\/p>\n
