Some might have heard about the story of Nicolas Cage’s prized “Superman” comic book being stolen<\/a>. The end of the story, however, is that the comic book, which was stolen many years ago, was found in an auctioned storage unit in Simi Valley. The “Auction Hunters” duo Allen Haff and Ton Jones, two of the best in the business when it comes to finding treasures amongst the derelict, have weighed on what it’s like to discover such a find. <\/p>\n

“Comic books are one of the most common finds in storage,” said Haff. “We often find huge collections, but only rarely are there single issues of any major value. When selling comic books, it’s all about finding the right buyer who is looking for that one or two missing issues in their collection…This issue was found in a unit not far from the area where I cut my teeth and often attend auctions. It’s stories like this that keep us all out on the hunt. This find being so close to where I work, really peaked my interest.<\/p>\n

“This is every auction hunter\u2019s dream, but finds like this don\u2019t happen often,” said Jones. “A lot of people think they can go to auctions and find these treasures in their first or second unit. This business requires a lot of sweat, hard work and experience to pick the right units with the right finds.”<\/p>\n
