“American Idol” is still<\/em> reeling from the loss of Pia Toscano! Now, according to the L.A. Times<\/a>, talk is going around that the show should change its voting system. <\/p>\n

“American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe said that he’s been toying with the idea of there being a change in the voting system in which America votes for the bottom three, and the judges choose which contestant out of the three will go home. <\/p>\n

“Idol” judge Randy Jackson also expressed interest in a change in voting, citing how the system is biased toward males due to the large volume of women and young girls voting. “There’s a lot of young girls and young women voting…They really vote more for guys than girls.” This sentiment was slightly echoed by Jennifer Lopez last week during the Top 8 performance episode, saying she didn’t want contestant Haley Reinhart sent home just because that would leave only one girl–Lauren Alaina–in the competition. <\/p>\n

However, Jackson’s idea to solve the voting problem is to implement a second<\/em> judges’ save. A SECOND<\/strong> one?! The judges save is part of the problem in the first place, in my view! If America votes you out, you should be voted out, no matter how painful it might be. And generally, the really awesome singers who do get voted out eventually make it big, most times even bigger than they would if they won “American Idol” due to the fact that they get to bypass all of the contract-signing and having to be beholden to 19 Entertainment. <\/p>\n
