Bradley Cooper has expressed interest in writing a film adaptation of Dan Simmons’ science fiction novel series ‘Hyperion’, Coming Soon<\/a> is reporting. The actor has reportedly written a treatment for the potential movie with his friend Conal Byrne, and has brought it to Graham King Productions, which owns the rights to the book series.<\/p>\n

The ‘Limitless’ star, who also admitted that his ultimate goal is to one day direct, added that he knows his proposal “is a very audacious endeavor.” He said he believes he has a way to bring the story to life on the screen, and Byrne and he are currently negotiating to write the script for the film. The series, set in the distant future, details a space war threatening the planet Hyperion, which is known for its Time Tombs, or large artifacts that can move through time.<\/p>\n

While Cooper’s latest film, ‘The Hangover Part II,’ made $31.66 million on its first day of release, he said it’s not likely that he’ll be offered the job of directing the ‘Hyperion’ movie, due to its massive stunts. Scott Derrickson was the last reported director attached to the film, when it was in development at Warner Bros in 2009. He was reportedly going to merge ‘Hyperion’ and ‘The Fall of Hyperion’ into a movie titled ‘Hyperion Cantos,’ which was going to be penned by Trevor Sands.<\/p>\n
