CinemaBlend<\/a> is reporting that a sequel to Marvel\/Disney’s movie “Thor” is underway! The film is set for a 2013 release. For those that were fans of the film, that’s the good part. The bad part is that there is currently no director signed to the project, which means that Kenneth Branagh must not be coming back. Sources say that there might have been an issue with money as to why the director known most for his Shakespeare adaptations won’t return. <\/p>\n

However, Deadline<\/a> is reporting that Branagh might be on the sequel in some sort of producing role because, thankfully, this isn’t a case where a director is mad at a company. The good relations will, hopefully, keep everything on track. <\/p>\n

But if Branagh won’t direct, then who should? I’m of the camp who loved Branagh’s directing, and I think he actually made the movie much better than I was expecting. He seemed to bring out the best in his actors, particularly since some, like Tom Hiddleston, has worked with Branagh before. Branagh seemed to really understand the majesty of Asgard and its inhabitants. <\/p>\n

So, who I would pick would be another director who understands majesty–Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n. Cuar\u00f3n can weave magic in my book. He’s the only reason why the “Harry Potter” franchise shifted gears from just being books-on-video to actual films<\/em>. And the mystical quality of “A Little Princess”? Fantastic. <\/p>\n

My second pick would be either Guillermo del Toro–who could forget “Pan’s Labyrinth”–or Tarsem. If “Immortals” does well, I think Tarsem could be in high demand. And even if you hated the stories of “The Cell” or “The Fall,” you can’t deny the creative design of the films. <\/p>\n
