Remember that place you&#8217;d drive to every weekend, full of DVDs and candy. You&#8217;d give someone money and they&#8217;d allow to rent the hottest video releases for a few days. When you didn&#8217;t return them on time, they&#8217;d charge you a fee for being late. Yeah, that place, the video store. And yes, surprisingly, Blockbuster is still around trying to be &#8220;competitive&#8221; for your business.<\/p>\n<p>Blockbuster, now owned by Dish Network, unveiled a new pricing scheme for summer movies and kids and family movies. For the low price of $1.49, you can rent a movie and get a 20 ounce Coke. Sounds good? Well, you have to rent this movie between 11AM and 3PM&#8230; and you have to rent something that&#8217;s in the $1.99 price range&#8230; and you have to be a member&#8230; and you have to find a Blockbuster near you.<\/p>\n<p>Other promotions include 99 cent rentals on Sundays between July 10th and Sept 4th, DVDs and Blu-rays at a $1.99 rental only. A kids program for free rentals when you buy a package allowing you to rent one or more at a time, until Sept 5th.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d say just get a Netflix account, pay $9.99 a month and get unlimited rentals and streaming, and save time and money that way, like everyone else in the US. Or check out Hulu, but really, use Blockbuster as a last resort, if you can find one.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Every child will want to be a Camp WannaWatchaMovie camper at Blockbuster this summer,&#8221; said Kevin Lewis, CMO at Blockbuster. &#8220;With the Kids Summer Pass, parents can bring their kids in from the hot sun and keep them entertained while on road trips, sleepovers or at home for the remainder of the summer for a very low price.&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sometimes being delusional is a good way to get through life.
