Sony has announced the official release date for ‘Hurt Locker’ director Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming Navy Seal project, a movie that follows the hunt, and ultimate death of Osama bin Laden.\u00a0 Bigelow and her partner mark Boal have been working on the story for a while with recent changes to the script after the capture of the notoriously evil terrorist leader bin Laden.\u00a0 Set for it’s official release on October 12, 2012, production is scheduled to begin late this summer with a title of ‘Kill bin Laden’.\u00a0 The movie will star Joel Edgerton, but additional cast members set to appear have yet to be announced.<\/p>\n

Together Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal will produce the predictable block buster movie with the help of Megan Ellison of of\u00a0Annapurna Pictures, who is financially backing the film.\u00a0 Greg Shapiro, who has previously with both Bigelow and Boal, will be on board as executive producer of the picture.\u00a0 According to THR, the release of ‘Kill bin Laden’ will follow the “same frame” as Sony’s debut of ‘The Social Network’.<\/p>\n

The fifty-nine year old Bigelow, who got her start back in the late 70’s, is widely known for her work on 2008’s The Hurt Locker with Jeremy Renner.\u00a0 Over the years she has worked over the years on ‘The Weight of Water’, ‘Blue Steel’,\u00a0 ‘K-19: The Widowmaker’, and more.<\/p>\n
