According to The Huffington Post<\/a>, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty will not run for a 2012 Senate seat. <\/p>\n

Pawlenty destroyed Republican hope (including Republican chair Tony Sutton’s hopes) of his running for Senate Wednesday when he declared he wouldn’t be going against freshman Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar. <\/p>\n

Pawlenty emailed The Associated Press, writing, “I don’t know what I’ll be doing next…However, I will not be running against Amy in 2012.”<\/p>\n

For Republicans to get their hopes up about Pawlenty running for the Senate is interesting, since, according to the article, he never held any interest in running against Klobuchar in the first place. According to the article, Pawlenty told the Star Tribune of Minneapolis last week (when he was still in the race) that he had no interest in following the Klobuchar race. <\/p>\n

Pawlenty dropped out of the presidential race last Sunday after the results of the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa. Pawlenty came in at a distant third; Michele Bachmann won the race, narrowly beating out Ron Paul. You can read the full article here<\/a>. <\/p>\n
