After the long yet fun showcase ended for Pixar Animation Studios, President of Production for Walt Disney Studios’ own Sean Bailey stepped out onstage, introducing us to the live-action segment of the presentation. He doesn’t waste any time and dives right into what we’re going to see in the next couple of years from Walt Disney Studios’ slate.<\/p>\n

John Carter<\/strong><\/p>\n

Director Andrew Stanton stepped out onstage to a wave of applause, wetting our appetite for all things “John Carter” with the official teaser trailer (which you can see below):<\/p>\n

Then they brought out Williem Dafoe, Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins who began talking about how great it was to be on this project. The best stuff was from Willem Dafoe who readily agreed to be part of “John Carter” even though they told him he’d have to walk on three-feet stilts and wear a full-on green suit in the heat of the desert while shooting. Then they continued on showing us some more footage from the upcoming science-fiction film:<\/p>\n

* John Carter (Kitsch) finds himself on unknown desert terrain where he finds himself with the great ability to jump farther than any human ever can. He then finds an underground area where tons of eggs are hatching into little green dog-like alien babies. He turns away in disgust only to find a four-armed alien running after him. He hides behind a boulder while the alien Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) tells the other aliens of his kind who are shooting away to hold their fire. He then tries to communicate with Carter, asking him to jump like he did earlier just for the pure fascination of it. Carter does so, trying to grab onto a weapon that Tars left on the floor. Next thing he knows he’s in the line of fire once more with another alien as Tars tries to protect him and the screen goes black.<\/p>\n

* The second scene is between Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins) who’s trying to persuade John Carter to stay on Mars and help her people rather than return to Earth. If he were to return to Earth then she would end up having to marry the enemy in order to retain a state of peace for her people. She tries to persuade him as she gives him the phrase to say in order to escape. Does he do it? You’ll just have to wait until March 9th, 2012 to find out.<\/p>\n

Frankenweenie<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tim Burton is putting a new spin on one of his earliest pieces of work with the stop-motion animated 3D film “Frankenweenie.” Although nobody from the cast or crew was able to make it today, we still got to check out the footage which includes:<\/p>\n

* Tim Burton talking about revisiting this story and how it’s based off his own experience of friendship with his own dog. No, the dog doesn’t get reincarnated like this one does.<\/p>\n

* We get a look at animated footage showing the young Victor Frankenstein (voiced by Charlie Tahan) as he plays with his dog Sparky, how he ends up playing a game of baseball one day and when Sparky sees the ball he chases after it only to be hit by a car. Victor then brings Sparky back to life, causing all sorts of mayhem in the town best described by Tim Burton as “Transylvania meets Burbank.” They also show off a vast array of other monster-like domestic creatures like a mummy hamster, a vampire cat, etc.<\/p>\n

“Frankenweenie” comes out in theaters on October 5, 2012. Check out the official logo down below (thanks to Coming Soon!<\/a>):<\/p>\n
