TV Land has announced that they have acquired the broadcasting rights to “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” according to Deadline.<\/a><\/p>\n

The show, which aired from 1961 to 1966 and starred Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore, will premiere on October 3, fifty years to the day after it premiered on CBS. <\/p>\n

On TV Land, the show will run in a three-hour block from 6-9 p.m. October 3 through October 7 and afterwards, the regular spot for the show will be weekdays at 7 p.m. <\/p>\n

I realize this show is on TV Land, a network originally known for their vintage\/retro television but now known for current shows like “Hot in Cleveland”, but it seems like TV Land is trying to get in on the 1960s craze by bringing back a 1960s television show. Even though the network has old shows, TV Land currently doesn’t have any 1960s shows running on their lineup right now, so adding “The Dick Van Dyke Show” can certainly give the network a way to compete with NBC, which has “The Playboy Club,” ABC, which has “Pan Am” and AMC, which has “Mad Men.” Also, at one point, “The Dick Van Dyke Show” was on a Viacom network–either Nickelodeon during its “Nick at Nite” lineup or TV Land itself, so this is more like a welcoming back than a new acquisition. <\/p>\n
