The original release date for the final seventh season of “The Shield” was set for “April” but due to set backs “mostly the writers strike” the release date was canceled strike also cut short the most recent seasons of Nip\/Tuck, Dirt, and The Riches . FX did a great job keeping the public in the dark about when the final season would be released. But after keeping us on the edge of our seats for a few months they finally started advertising the final season will be on the air this September 2nd However, the strike still affected the show.<\/p>\n
Yes the wait is over dust off your season 6 DVD set and brush up your Shield history.<\/p>\n
Imagine being put on a roller-coaster on the ride of your life and your on the last flip, turn and 300ft drop then it stops for maintenance. Well that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s what happened with The Shield. We loved the twist and turns of murder and black-mail. We loved the flips and 360s of the squad trying to clean up the streets but also putting some money in there pockets in the process. We even fell in love with the derailing of the Money Train. As we got to the final drop of the ride of our life’s it just simply stopped at the top.<\/p>\n
But now finally the maintenance is over and the final drop is filled with 13 new twists and turns. The 7th and final season will contain 13 new episodes. The DVD set of the final season will contain extra material of interviews with the Emmy award winning Michael Chiklis and a few of his other cast members. I was told not to get my hopes up about hearing from the writers because most of them declined to be apart of the extra material.<\/p>\n
There is something about a corrupt cop just trying to make his and his squad life’s a little bit easier that grabs the audience. It pulls you in, wont let go and touches your heart. The fact that Vic Mackey is mostly just trying to raise his kids “one with special needs” and just can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t do it on a cop\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s salary. Kind of helps you deal with the fact that Vic is the bad guy. The Shield shows that one mistake or lie can escalate into something that you can’t always control. Vic has everything, befriends that he can trust, he owns the street and no matter how much they don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want to everybody trust him. But The Shield shows having everything is not all fun and games. If you have watched The Shield then you know the whole time Vic is always working trying to keep people from finding out the fact he brake\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s more laws then the people he puts behind bars.<\/p>\n

Unusually gritty and graphically violent, but seldom less than riveting, `The Shield’ gets its biggest jolt from the breakout performance by Michael Chiklis as the complex and volatile Vic Mackey. The drama made Emmy history when he won for Lead Actor in a Drama in 2002, the first such win for a basic-cable series.<\/p>\n
