Every since I was a kid I’ve always been a fan of late 70’s and early 80’s action films, I loved films such as Escape from New York, Mad Max, The Warriors and the like, so “Doomsday” to me was a breath of long awaited fresh air. In the not so distant future the deadly virus known as the Reaper Virus has killed most of the residents of Scotland who have been quarantined since the outbreak. Twenty five years later, the virus has spread into Great Britain and in desperation the British Government sends trained agents led by Major Eden Sinclair (Rhona Mitra) into the quarantined zone to look for the cure.<\/p>\n
Doomsday is another high energy entertaining film helmed by one of my favorite new genre filmmakers Neil Marhall who brought us the hit horror film “The Descent” in 2007. While Decent still remains my favorite film from Mr. Marshall, “Doomsday” still delivers a high energy, well scripted storyline with pretty decent acting and enough blood and gore to keep the horror fans happy. Did I mention that it had absolutely bitchen sets and explosion after bloody explosion?<\/p>\n
Doomsday will be released on DVD July 27, 2008.<\/p>\n
