We’re getting a double dose of comedy to ring in the new month – Tower Heist<\/I> and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas<\/I>. Of the two, Tower Heist<\/I> is likely to come out on top courtesy of its star-studded cast and 3,200+ theaters. Should Tower Heist<\/I> post a $8,000 per theater average, somewhat similar to that of Night of the Museum<\/I>, it’ll finish its first weekend with about $25 million. As for A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas<\/I>, it looks to fall right in line with its predecessor, Escape from Guantanamo Bay<\/I>. Should Harold & Kumar<\/I> snag another $6,000 per theater average it’ll accumulate about $16 million for weekend one.<\/p>\n

Moving onto our old timers, Puss in Boots<\/I> could stay on line with 2007\u2019s Bee Movie<\/I>. Should that be the case, Puss<\/I> is looking at 35% week one to two drop, which would leave it with another $22 million to take to the bank. After a rough free fall, things will get better for Paranormal Activity 3<\/I>, but not by much. If its week two earnings are slashed in half, it\u2019ll wrap week three with about $9 million.<\/p>\n

In Time<\/I> didn\u2019t have a half bad start and considering there\u2019s no new competition intruding on its territory it should hold on rather strong, perhaps only losing about 40% of its week one profits. Another $7 million will give it more than enough to assume the fifth position on the top ten. In a distant sixth will likely be The Rum Diary<\/I>. After a dismal launch, interest in the Johnny Depp-starrer will likely plummet, perhaps only leaving the film with about $3 million for its second week out and a far cry away from its $45 million budget.<\/p>\n

Footloose<\/I> has had a nice run, only losing 33.5% from week one to two and then 46.8% from week two to three and luckily, that number shouldn\u2019t increase at all. Actually, Footloose<\/I> could only take a 45% week four hit, giving it another $3 million, which could possibly be just enough to steal that sixth spot from The Rum Diary<\/I>. Real Steel<\/I> is fading fast heading into its fifth week. Should the film lose about 50% of its profits again, it\u2019ll end up with about $2.5 million. The Three Musketeers<\/I> will find itself in a similar position, but, sadly, it\u2019s only in its third weekend out. It looks as though that one will only take another $2 million, bringing its minimal domestic total to just under $20 million on a supposed $75 million budget. The Ides of March<\/I> could come close to topping The Three Musketeers<\/I>, but will likely take another 40% hit, leaving it with a total of just about $1.6 million, pushing Moneyball<\/I> out of the top ten.<\/p>\n
