Google is celebrating the 125th anniversary of the world’s largest recorded snowflake with a new animated Doodle. On January 28, 1887, a 15-inch snowflake was observed in Fort Keogh, Montana, which the Guinness Book of World Records classifies as the snowflake with the biggest diameter ever recorded. When users of the search engine click on the Doodle, which replaces the official Google logo on its homepage, they will find information about the enormous snowflake.<\/p>\n

A few seconds after users visit Google’s home page, a huge snowflake falls into the picture, acting as the center O in the search engine’s name. The G is half-buried in snow, and a water tower in the background serves as the L. When the snowflake lands on the ground, little black birds fly away, and a cow lifts and turns its head.<\/p>\n
