The contest is being backed by a lot of Hollywood&#8217;s elite, such as Kristen Stewart &#8220;The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn &#8211; Part 2&#8221;, &#8220;Conan&#8221; host Conan O&#8217;Brien and Andy Richter, &#8220;Pretty Little Liars&#8221;&#8216; Lucy Hale, &#8220;Heart of Dixie&#8221;&#8216;s Rachel Bilson, &#8220;The Hangover&#8221;&#8216;s Joseph Garner, and others.<\/p>\n<p>Vans is a company that prides itself on creativity and originality, and Vans&#8217; Vice President of Marketing Doug Palladini wants to make sure the usage and power of art programs in schools as a creative and educational outlet are not forgotten. \u201cNot only are the number of jobs based in creative skills growing, but developing and exercising inherent creativity nurtures traits applicable in nearly any career path,\u201d he said. \u201cVans aims to support art programs and help fight budget cuts that are all too common by inspiring students to embrace their creativity while also educating communities at large about the importance of art in the schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Are you interested in applying? Here are the official rules:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On February 1, 2012, Vans Custom Culture registration opens to all U.S.-based high school art programs, accepting the first 1,000 registrant schools into this year\u2019s competition.  Enter here: Website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vans.com\/customculture\/\">http:\/\/www.vans.com\/customculture\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Schools will be narrowed initially by an internal Vans team and then in later stages by public voting, through the Vans Custom Culture website.   The top five schools will showcase their designs at the Vans Custom Culture final event held in Los Angeles in May 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Vans Custom Culture encourages students to express their personal creativity through customizing four favorite Vans canvas styles: the Old Skool, 106 Vulcanized, Sk8-Hi and Classic Slip-On.
