The hacking group Anonymous has intercepted a sensitive conference call between the FBI and Scotland Yard, Fox News<\/a> is reporting. The hackers released a 15-minute-long recording of the conference call, which took place on January 17, 2012. The call was devoted to tracking and prosecuting members of Anonymous.<\/p>\n

The authenticity of the call was not immediately verified, and Anonymous has not disclosed how they obtained it. Names of the suspects have been edited from the recording, which the FBI spokesman, Tim Flannelly, said was illegally obtained. The FBI added a criminal investigation is underway into how the call was obtained.<\/p>\n

Anonymous has also published an email an FBI agent sent, which provided a password for accessing the call. The agent also invited his foreign counterparts to join the call to “discuss the on-going investigations related to Anonymous.” The message was sent to officials in the U.K., the Netherlands, Sweden and France, but only American and British officials can be heard on the recording.<\/p>\n

Anonymous has also posted a tweet, saying “the FBI might be curious how we’re able to continuously read their internal comm(unication)s for some time now.” The FBI agents and others included on the call have not yet commented on the leaked tape.<\/p>\n
